BuzzSugar Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Shock to the System" Oct 1, 2010 9:30 AM The Grey's Anatomy season premiere ends on a shiny happy note with Owen and Cristina's wedding, but this week it's back to post traumatic stress. Cristina's typically the rock of the Seattle Grace crew, but this week she crumbles under pressure. Meredith and Derek make major strides, while Mark is inspired by a freak lightning strike accident. In the end, there's not a ton of noteworthy happenings this week, but let's review what did go down — [break]keep reading.[/break] Despite a riveting and mascara-stained performance with the therapist, Meredith still can't get cleared for surgery. Between episodes of Wheel of Fortune , she comes to Cristina's aid and finally admits to Derek that she didn't bail him out of jail because his reckless driving scares her. To give him more reason to stop his rash behavior, Meredith finally comes clean about the miscarriage. Once all of her cards are out on the table, she's allowed to go back to work. If last week's episode was focused on Lexie's breakdown, this week is Cristina's turn. It starts when she wakes up in a panic the morning after her wedding, and though she lets Owen take care of her (and wash her hair!) she's clearly not comfortable. Determined to play the doting husband, Owen gets Cristina back in the operating room — but she's not ready. She hyperventilates and needs to be bailed out by Mere in more ways than one. Though she has one lapse and hands her ring back to Owen, Meredith eventually "fixes" her best friend and Cristina and Owen make it through another day. The real question is whether or not Owen can start fixing Cristina on his own. Lexie's trying to rise above the whispers about her breakdown, but Mark is standing in her way. Though he's just trying to protect her, Lexie grows more indignant every time Mark tries to prevent her from working. Mark confesses to Callie that he wants to propose to Lexie and decides to seize the day when he realizes that time may not necessarily always be on his side. Unfortunately, Lexie isn't in the mood to be romanced and tells Mark to leave her alone before he can reveal his feelings. It's only a matter of a few episodes, right? Mark's speech about making Lexie happy is too cute to be wasted. Karev's still walking wounded (literally), but Bailey insists that he get the bullet removed from his chest. He gets all sorry for himself about being a magnet for crazy women, but Meredith puts him in his place and encourages him to talk to Lexie. He doesn't take her advice (yet), but he does let Bailey patch up his bullet wound. How'd you feel about this week's episode? Do you like Teddy's new love interest? Do you think Derek will keep his word to Meredith about staying under the speed limit? Sound off in the comments and be sure to cruise by the Grey's Anatomy Junkies in the Buzz Community! BuzzSugar Grey's Anatomy Rundown: Season Finale, "Sanctuary" and "Death and All His Friends" May 21, 2010 4:00 AM Still shell-shocked from last night's epic two-hour finale of Grey's Anatomy ? I know I am. Even though I was prepared for Mere's pregnancy and a shooter to be lurking around Seattle Grace, I definitely didn't feel equipped for what is one of the most intense episodes of Grey's I have ever seen. Unlike last year's big cliffhanger with George and Izzie, this one doesn't leave much to the imagination at the end of it all — but boy is there plenty to discuss. Let's get down to the gritty and grisly details when you . The episode starts off on a happy note: Meredith takes a pregnancy test and it's positive! It's the icing on the cake of what's become a way different Meredith Grey than the one we once knew. Even though it wasn't planned, she's excited, and Cristina's excited for her. Unfortunately, Derek never even gets to hear the happy news. The madness begins when Mr. Clark, (the husband of one of Derek's former patients who died in the hospital) starts walking around and looking for Derek. He gets a lot of snippy answers, including from Dr. Reid, who tells him that she's not a tour guide and advises that he finds a nurse. Instead, he pulls out a gun and shoots her squarely in the forehead — causing my jaw to hit the floor. Then he turns around and gets Karev right in the chest. Seriously, I haven't been so shocked by a one-two shooting spree since Michael shot Ana Lucia and Libby in rapid succession on Lost . April finds Dr. Reid and frantically explains the situation to Derek, who puts the hospital on lockdown. I have to hand it to Sarah Drew — I was really impressed with her performance in this episode. Of course, all the doctors and their ex-significant others are stuck together. Callie and Arizona are in peds together, Mark and Lexie find a bloody Karev in an elevator and are forced to operate on him together, Teddy and Owen are in surgery together. And so it begins. Can we talk about how gripping the scene is where Bailey and Percy are hiding from Mr. Clark? Their patient Mary (played by Mandy Moore) is forced to play dead while they hide in the room. When Percy confirms that he's a surgeon, Mr. Clark shoots him — and then pulls Bailey out from under Mary's bed . I felt like I was watching a horror movie as Miranda tearfully tells Mr. Clark she's a nurse while his gun is in her face. Mr. Clark finally finds Shepherd, and they have a serious stare down. Mr. Clark admits that he's at the hospital to "be a man" and to make sure that justice is served for his wife, whom he believes was killed by Derek. Derek manages to reason with him, citing the story of his own father's death and admitting that he made a mistake. Then, just when you think Mr. Clark might actually re-consider, April bursts through the door, and Derek gets shot in the chest. Let's take a moment to discuss the death count. At this point, Reid and a few non-regulars are already killed, and Karev, Percy, and Derek are all shot. I can't say I was shocked to see the Mercy doctors take a few bullets, since they were never properly written into the show anyway. But were you sweating over any other doctors? Considering the recent rumors that Patrick Dempsey wants out of the show, I thought (though prayed and prayed) that he might actually go. Then I thought that perhaps Webber would die in the end, as a sort of poetic justice to all the struggle that he's been through this season. Who were you placing your bets on? Mark and Lexie are forced to work together to try to save Karev's life — just minutes after Mark asks Lexie if her relationship with Alex is serious (and telling her that he'd miss her). Is that all the follow-up we get to last week's marriage proposal? Sadly, yes. Eventually they realize they can't do anything more without a blood transfusion, so Lexie sneaks out to get some — which is when she comes face to face with Mr. Clark. Mr. Clark tells Lexie that she's one of three people he wants to kill (Webber and Derek are the others), but the SWAT team shoots him before he can get to her. Lexie heads back to Alex's side, but there's still nothing they can do. She tells him she loves him, which clearly pains Mark. At this point Alex is too far gone to realize what's happening and thinks she's Izzie, begging her not to leave him. Lexie says she never will (which seems to hurt Mark even more), but is her love real or is she just trying to get him through the trauma? At the end of the episode, Alex is brought to safety and starts recovering — but after all the Izzie talk it's clear that he's not over his ex yet. So come next season, will Lexie choose Alex or Mark? Callie and Arizona are stuck with the kiddies down in pediatrics, and Callie couldn't be less psyched about it. Though Arizona tries to be friends, Callie says that she'd rather go down "the traditional route" of hating her ex. Of all the docs, they are the least affected by the shooter (though Callie has a very scary run-in when she gives him bandages for his GSWs). They continue to bicker throughout the episode, Arizona saying that she can't trust Callie because she's in love with love (the girl has bedded many a fellow doctor over the years). The lockdown is ultimately the eye-opener that they needed to get back together: Callie says she doesn't need kids if they get back together, but Arizona concedes and says they'll have 10 kids as long as they're still together. It's a refreshing "aww" moment after two hours of pure intensity. After Percy is shot, Miranda tries everything she can to treat him with Mary's help. It's of no use though — without access to an OR, there's nothing Bailey can do. As she struggles to bring him to the elevator, her emotions reach fever pitch when she realizes the power has been shut down — and has a full-blown emotional fit. She's still tough-as-nails Bailey though (even with the "water" dripping down her face) and she sees her patient through to the end, holding him in her arms the whole way. Though Reid and Percy are barely on the Grey's radar, it made me pretty sad to hear his final love confession. They might be the only doctors in the history of the show to have feelings between 'em and never get to hook up. Now, for the Teddy/Owen/Cristina triangle. Though Cristina tells Mere that she's "over it already", she's clearly not — and asks Owen the question we've all been waiting for — which woman does he love? When he balks, she tells him it's over and stalks off to find Mere. There's tension with Teddy, too, who's still angry that Owen tried to have her fired. After an awkward surgery together, Owen and Teddy defy the lockdown in search of supplies for their patient, and Teddy also asks Owen to make a choice. He refuses again, but when they are both safely outside the hospital, he chooses Cristina by heading back inside to find her. The real question on my mind is: wouldn't he do the same if Teddy was stuck inside and Cristina was outside? Ponder that. Back to Derek: as the first episode ends it seems like Derek is a goner, but we know Shonda Rimes and the rest of the writing staff would never let that happen so easily. Derek needs surgery, but there are no Attendings to be found (question: where have all the people in the hospital gone?) Cristina agrees to step up with Jackson's help, but only on the condition that Meredith can't watch. Meredith agrees, and Cristina is off to a shaky but good start. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Hunt shows up to where Cristina is performing surgery. The look on his face when Meredith explains the situation says it all: the shooter has found Cristina and Avery's operating room and has his gun to Cristina's head while she's trying to perform surgery. Despite the circumstances, Jackson and Cristina continue with the surgery while Owen tries to distract Mr. Clark and calling Cristina "the woman that he loves." There's a lot of back and forth with the gun aiming, and eventually Meredith gets into the mix and asks that Mr. Clark shoots her. He seems to consider it, but Owen makes a play for the gun and gets shot to the floor. Then, Jackson saves the day: he secretly pulls out Derek's heart monitor to trick Mr. Clark into thinking that Derek has died. When he leaves the room, they get back to work, though the stress has clearly taken a toll on Meredith, and she loses her baby while patching up Hunt. The episode wouldn't be a season finale without a curtain call, and Dr. Webber gets the brunt of it. Since he wasn't in the hospital at the time of the shooting, he spends most of the episode outside trying to get in. Clearly Webber still hasn't let go of the Chief position, talking about "his" hospital, "his" people (just as Derek does). Eventually he gets in and comes face to face with Mr. Clark, who only has one bullet left. He intended to shoot both Webber and himself, but is now faced with a dilemma. Dr. Webber keeps him talking (and manages to deny drinking from Mr. Clark's flask! So proud), and the scene ends with a bang — but who takes it? I really thought Webber might be done (and what a way to go), but he too walks away unscathed. And there you have it folks: what a whopper of an episode! Were you as enraptured as I was? How do you think the shooting will affect the doctors come Fall? And will Meredith and Derek try for another baby? Let's hear your comments, frustrations, and more — and don't forget that you can keep coming back to the Grey's Anatomy McAddicts group to keep the conversation going all Summer long! BuzzSugar Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Shiny Happy People" May 14, 2010 8:30 AM It's another patient-inspired-feelings week on Grey's Anatomy . When a geriatric pair of former lovers meet up at the hospital for the first time in decades, all of the surgeons start questioning their own love lives. Is it better to settle and be happy or try hard for the one that got away? Some go after what they want, while others decide to accept what's in front of them, but next week we'll learn more about which relationships are really built to last. There's a whole lotta action (particularly in the last five minutes of the episode) and it's leading up to what should be a very juicy finale. Though, a shooter? Get into it when you . Just to keep those Mercy West doctors on the show, Reid randomly decides to hook up with Sloane. It's all fun and games until Teddy walks in — um, suddenly Teddy and Mark are on the level where they walk into each other's apartments and immediately strip down? She kind of asked for that awkward situation. Anyway, Sloane realizes he doesn't really care about Teddy or Reid, and Callie convinces him to try to win Lexie back. Guess Callie's speech worked on herself too, since she plants a big smooch on Arizona in the elevator. Alex and Lexie are finally on a good streak — Alex even manages to last an entire episode without having a douche moment. Though Lexie is clearly a little jealous of Reid's fling with Mark, she takes the high road. Then she pulls out the big guns and asks Alex to determine the relationship. I fully expected Alex to balk, but he's so excited about curing Joe Jonas's girlfriend Hayley that he confirms that he and Lexie are a "thing." That said, it's still kinda sad when he admits to Mere that he's dating Lexie because she's nice and normal (translation: not because he's madly in love with her). Of course, the good times are all shaken up when Mark confesses his feelings to Lexie. And basically proposes to her! Are you Team Karev or Team Sloane? Things move into dangerous waters with Owen and Cristina when he asks her to move in with him. Cristina says yes, which causes meddlin' Mere to intervene. I understand that Meredith is trying to be a good friend, but hinting at the issue with Teddy and Owen without giving more details is kind of obnoxious. Cristina is obviously shaken up, particularly when Webber compares Teddy and Owen to his rapport with Ellis Grey (oh hell no!). Meredith finally confronts Owen and tells him to man up, which leads to a tiff with Cristina. He admits that he's unsure of his feelings with Teddy but before the fight goes any further there's a jaw-dropper: Teddy has been eavesdropping on their whole conversation! By the end of the episode, Cristina tells Mere that there won't be a moving day for her. Bailey and her anesthesiologist boy toy Ben finally do the deed — but not before Ben gets a firm talking to about keeping their personal life out of the hospital. It takes little more than some singing in the elevator for the McDuo to figure out what's going on, but the fun fades quickly. Bailey loses it when she sees Ben flirting with a floozy nurse (I have to admit my heart broke for her, too). Luckily, Ben makes it up to her by assuring her that he saves his best flirting for Miranda. He's cute, but a little too smooth. I still don't trust him. So, how'd you feel about the episode? Were you shocked by any of the drama? Impressed with Demi Lovato's creepy kid acting skills? BuzzSugar Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "How Insensitive" May 7, 2010 9:30 AM The smart alecks that are the Seattle Grace doctors are forced to keep their sass to themselves on Grey's Anatomy this week, as an obese man is ushered into the hospital for a look. Of course, it proves to be no easy feat for the surgeons — Yang is taken off the case almost immediately — but in the end we get a good look at many a softer side of the docs. On the dramz front, Meredith is none-too-pleased to learn of Owen's feelings for Teddy, and starts a chain of bad reactions and general hospital gossip. Ready to break it all down? Just . All the doctors are interested in cracking jokes about 700-pound Jerry and his amazingly tiny, cute, wife — but the case hits home the hardest with Karev. He handles the patient while processing the news that his divorce with Izzie is final, and ultimately, it makes Karev give Jerry a hard look at the value of his life. And then, like magic, the sensitivity fairy seems to have visited cranky old Karev as he finally shows some sweetness towards Lexie. Once Yang is eliminated from the surgery du jour, she is forced to play babysitter for a nine-year-old while her mother is in surgery. We've all seen Cristina try to connect with kids before and it ain't pretty. This time is different though, and eventually, Cristina connects with the little girl through losing her own father as a child. Jackson bears witness to Cristina's niceities and tries to present himself as a shoulder to cry on (sounds like someone's still got a crush!). Naturally, he's brutally rebuffed as Cristina tells him to "go be someone else's dishrag" — but she immediately collapses into Owen's arms accompanied by a flood of tears. Cristina would be crying harder if only she knew what's really going on with her man. Derek reveals to Mere that Owen tried to get Teddy transferred, which immediately puts Mere into frosty mode with Owen. Which, in turn, makes Owen realize that Derek blabbed — and he is not happy. After Owen gives Derek a piece of his mind (gotta admit he's got a point here), Derek and Meredith hash it out. They both make good points: Derek just wants to be a good husband (though he's clearly choosing his personal life over his job) and Meredith can't help that she has a problem hiding her feelings. Still, Owen retaliates by kicking Mere off a surgery. I can only imagine that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Callie's day takes an unexpected twist when her pretty patient takes a liking to her in a big way. There's some pretty relentless flirting (much to the delight of Callie's colleagues) and eventually Callie heads home with a phone number written on her palm. It's a game changer for Callie and Arizona's relationship: Callie realizes that there may be other fish in the sea (more specifically, fish who want babies), and Arizona won't hold Callie back any longer. They have the worst kind of breakup — the kind where they still love each other, the audience still roots for them, and their breakup plans are interspersed with "I love yous" and hugs. Now that we're getting down to the wire, I can't wait for what is sure to be a nail-biting season finale . BuzzSugar Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Hook, Line and Sinner" Apr 30, 2010 6:30 AM Grey's Anatomy is back this week and wastes no time at all diving into the good stuff. Within minutes there's a baby being born right on Mark's living room floor, and the drama just keeps on building from there. The themes of the night? Loyalty and family issues up the wazoo. Callie and Arizona are still at odds over having a baby someday, while Mark quickly bonds with his brand new grandson. Karev keeps working on earning the douche bag of the year award, but Lexie finally grows a pair. To get into all the Seattle Grace goodness, just . So not even the birth of Lil Sloan's baby boy can melt Arizona's stone cold feelings about having a kid of her own someday. Callie does everything she can to convince her otherwise, but even when she has her "aha" moment (realizing that Arizona's brother passed away), Arizona refuses to be labeled as "damaged" and stands her ground. Though Callie is back in Arizona's arms at the end of the episode, maternal feelings like that don't just go away. Now let's talk about baby Sloan. First off, I was kind of shocked that the Grey's writers didn't want to milk the incident for all its worth. No emergency surgery? No complications? Nope, just two minutes and boom! A healthy baby boy arrives, and Mark is instantly in love. It's pretty sweet to see him all glowing and cooing over his grandson, even if his daughter is becoming more irritating every episode. All's well that end's well though: Mark hands the baby over to a pair of competent adoptive parents, and finally gives Sloan the love and attention she's craved her whole life. The real question is whether or not this is the last we'll see of Mark the family man. (Might I suggest he and Callie join forces? Just saying). Teddy goes from hero to zero when another fancy cardio god named Tom Evans starts sniffing around for her job. As it turns out, Teddy's job isn't permanent, and her dire straits couldn't come at a worse time. A cold causes her to screw up a surgery, giving Shepherd severe doubts about her abilities. And whose arms does she go running to? Why, Owen's of course. His soothing turns to some very intense staring and they're nanoseconds away from making out when the elevator door opens. As always. The catch here is that after this episode it's clear that it's not just Teddy who's harboring bottled up feelings. Owen can't really control himself either, which is confirmed when Cristina tells him to persuade Derek to keep Teddy — and he does just the opposite. Little Grey comes into her own this week with some help from Bailey. It's clear who's calling the shots in her relationship with Karev from the get-go: he up and leaves her in bed when both of them are paged at the beginning of the episode. As the day goes on, he continues to treat her like crap and make fun of her for no real reason. Lexie finally gets an earful from Bailey, who tells her that she's giving Alex all the power in exchange for sex, an that she needs to take it back. (Love this line: "I'm Dr. Bailey. I know everything.") Lexie takes his advice and gives Alex her two cents, not once but twice. As much as I wish Lexie would just dump Alex's sorry ass already, at least she's not his doormat anymore. Are you glad Grey's is finally back in your Thursday night lineup? Were you happy with the way Mere handled Dr. Kepner's crush on Derek? And did anyone else gag at the sight of that giant fishhook?
