Stop me if you've heard this one before — Katherine Heigl is going to be leaving Grey's Anatomy for the second time this season. Though Izzie returns to Seattle Grace/Mercy West on tonight's episode (just in time for the arrival of Kim Raver), Heigl is set to take a belated maternity leave next year to spend time with her newly adopted daughter.
I'm all for spending quality time with family, but this seems a bit suspect — especially given how many times we've heard rumors of Heigl's desire to leave the show. At this point, I feel like Heigl should just call it quits and keep her focus on her movie career; it would also be a perfect time for Izzie to make an easy exit from Grey's now that she's been fired.
Do you still love Izzie or do you wish Heigl would just let her go already? Sound off in the comments and be sure to check out the Grey's Anatomy McAddicts Group in the Buzz Community!

Principles
This is ridiculous, and terrible for the story. All of these phone calls to Izzy to try to keep her in the mix - please! It's terrible. Just cut her loose, already.
1I love her, but yes, I agree...it's time for her to leave Grey's.
2Honestly, the show has been better without her the last few weeks. It is time for her to move on.
3Buh-bye!
4See ya later, Izzie. Personally, I don't think she's a fantastic actress (she plays the same character, basically, in every movie), so if KH disappeared herself I would not be too upset.
5I am sure she would leave if she had a choice - but she is contracted and that decision is ABC's. She is a big name and no way do they want her to leave which is why they have compromised and she has been allowed time to film her movie etc. I think the show can only suffer as a result of her absence as she is a wonderful actress. But it will survive without her for sure.
6Shonda, isnt it about time you did a "killer" patient on the loose storyline? cmon its a good one, Man gets brought in, injured from a car accident, there was a DOA on the scene "thought" to be his passenger but IT WASNT, she was IN THE TRUNK already dead and before everyone realized it he pushes Izzy down the stairs to her death.....its plausible.
7Even if she wanted to quit - which she has never said she does - the press have been going on about it since Season 2 - when Denny died and Heigl had her first big movie success with Knocked Up. Yet 4 seasons later she is still there. Get over it folks - she isn't leaving. I think now she probably would move if she had a choice but like MillyN said she is contracted and ABC will not let their star name go.
8I think they have let other characters go and they wish they could come back at times (Burke, George,Denny etc.). I think they should get rid of Izzie and focus on other characters maybe bringing her back from time to time for soem episodes. I mean she isn't a doctor at the Seattle Grace anymore but she has close ties to those who are and just like we only see the Cheif's wife from time to time couldn't we just see that with Izzie?
9At this point, she can go...now they have enough other characters to concentrate and spread storylines on. More Christina! yay!
10Of course she should be allowed to take a parental leave! Family bonding is more important than a storyline. Everyone here seems more concerned about the show than a mother's right to take care of her young child. No wonder Americans have such crappy parental leave. Yes I know I'll get nasty comments for that but that's OK. I'll read them on my one year mat leave that starts in a couple of weeks.
11Lately, I've kind of missed seeing Izzie..but meh.. we'd survive if she left for good. Besides, I'm not the hugest fan of Katherine Heigl.
12Isn't it weird that Alex is the only one concerned that she's disappeared? Seriously - her friends could care less on the show.. I'm ready for her to go.
